Cabinet Making Tuition

Geoffrey’s furniture making training courses give the student a good foundation on which to make fine furniture.

Business Seminars

Geoffrey hosts a one day seminar designed to help individuals decide whether to start their own furniture making business.

Commissioning a Piece of Hand Made Wooden Furniture

The decision to commission a piece of hand made wooden furniture is the start of a personal relationship with your craftsman. Only by getting to know you, your home, and your values can Geoffrey create the piece you have in mind.

Before the design process begins, Geoffrey will arrange to visit you at home. This allows him to see the space where the piece will be positioned, to get a feel for its surroundings and how it will be used. This initial discussion will also include your preferences for materials, the dimensions and finishes, and will help him to define your exact requirements.

Following this meeting, you will be presented with design ideas for your individual piece of furniture in the form of dimensional drawings, maybe a watercolour painting and sketches of particular details. This is supported by samples of timber and applied finishes to be used, as well as a carefully structured quotation of proposed costs. There is no charge at this stage for clients who live within a fifty mile radius.

Once a design and quotation is accepted, the client is asked to commit to a 50% deposit, and the order is booked into the workshop diary.

"Thank you so much for creating the centre piece to our lounge. It isn't often, I am sure, that a coffee table can be described as a piece of art but that in fact is what you have created. The piece is visually stunning and from all considerations including the choice of materials, design element and project execution, it is simply outstanding and has exceeded our expectations. We look forward to working with you on our next project." William
